It was announced this morning that Ben will lead England in the upcoming Royal London ODI series against Pakistan.
The ECB were forced to name a new 18 player squad after three players originally selected for the series and four backroom staff had tested positive for COVID.
Ben was playing in the LV= Insurance County Championship for Durham when the call came to captain the replacement squad. Ben only returned to playing for Durham on 20 June after an absence from the game through injury.
With the first ODI starting on Thursday (8 July) in Cardiff, Ben and the England players will have a matter of hours to get match ready to face Pakistan.
The opening match of the three match series on Thursday, will be the first time Ben has led England's ODI team.
