A pulsating first day of the opening Ashes Test in Perth brought out the best from Ben.
The series started with England’s batters offering up an innings of collective ill-judgment and errors.
Just after 2.00pm and with 32.5 overs bowled an under-performing England closed their innings with a mere 172 runs on the scoreboard.
After the batting implosion came an explosive spell of bowling from Ben.
The Australian batters were first battered with, at times unplayable, pace bowling before Ben tore out the heart of the middle order.
In six memorable overs, Ben took five wickets for a paltry 23 runs to give England a route to victory and a 1-0 lead in the series.
At the close of play Australia were 123 for nine.
